KYUNG LEE

Director / Cinematographer / Editor

Hailing from Yokohama, Japan, Kyung Lee is a filmmaker/editor based in Oakland, California. She is drawn to eccentric characters who go against the flow and she explores radical ideas that are out of this world. On We R Here, Kyung worked with DJ to record his life, providing him with a cellphone, basic film training and production strategy. She has edited numerous documentary films and is currently venturing into creating animation. For more information about her, please visit her website.

JAMES “DJ NYCE” GOODWIN

Director / Cinematographer

Born in Oakland, raised in San Leandro, California, James Goodwin aka DJ Nyce is a former football player and musician who’s seen it all. In collaboration with Kyung Lee, We R Here is his directorial debut and a true labor of love. DJ collaborated with Kyung to record his life using a cell phone camera. The look is gritty, raw, and in your face, but hella real and powerfully human. Currently attending community college, his dream is to become a radio personality.

DANIEL BAUM

Producer

Daniel Baum is a producer, an attorney and homeless outreach volunteer, who has been working with the unhoused community for more than 8 years. Daniel and Kyung, met DJ Nyce while doing homeless outreach. He worked with DJ and the rest of the production team in numerous ways during production and post-production.

KIM ANNO

Executive Producer

Kim Anno is an artist, an educator, a filmmaker, and a LGBTQ activist. Kim is a social practice artist whose films and other artwork promote LGBTQ rights and human equality. Here, Kim played an essential role by devising the strategy to equip DJ with a cellphone and to involve him more fully in the filmmaking process. Kim is currently in production of her documentary feature about the LGBTQ movement in Cuba, ¡Quba!, edited and co-produced by Kyung Lee.
