JAMES “DJ NYCE” GOODWIN
Director / Cinematographer
Born in Oakland, raised in San Leandro, California, James Goodwin aka DJ Nyce is a former football player and musician who’s seen it all. In collaboration with Kyung Lee, We R Here is his directorial debut and a true labor of love. DJ collaborated with Kyung to record his life using a cell phone camera. The look is gritty, raw, and in your face, but hella real and powerfully human. Currently attending community college, his dream is to become a radio personality.
Daniel Baum is a producer, an attorney and homeless outreach volunteer, who has been working with the unhoused community for more than 8 years. Daniel and Kyung, met DJ Nyce while doing homeless outreach. He worked with DJ and the rest of the production team in numerous ways during production and post-production.
Kim Anno is an artist, an educator, a filmmaker, and a LGBTQ activist. Kim is a social practice artist whose films and other artwork promote LGBTQ rights and human equality. Here, Kim played an essential role by devising the strategy to equip DJ with a cellphone and to involve him more fully in the filmmaking process. Kim is currently in production of her documentary feature about the LGBTQ movement in Cuba, ¡Quba!, edited and co-produced by Kyung Lee.
